This is one of the first photos I ever took, that I still own. I was 12 years old. This is a small view of my grandfather's land. One day it might be mine? I don't know. The little Chapel in the distance is part of the cemetery, and it's a wonderful walk through the old roads or cutting through the fields of corn, which we loved to do. It's quite possibly the prettiest cemetery I have ever been to. Maybe this is because it is also the final resting place for my grandfather and grandmother.

Looks like a beautiful and quiet place. I think people are lucky to grow up in such green environments, I'm one of those lucky girls too!
Totally gorgeous! What an idyllic place. I was thinking the other day about the special place in my memories I have of visits to my grandparents' place and the adventures my sister and brother and I played in their garden... and how my kids won't have that as both their grandparents live in city apartments having sold the family homestead etc etc... it's all the more precious because it's the end of that era maybe? Lovely to think that you may end up living there and that your grandchildren may get to have this special place too :) Kx
p.s. I saw your print at IKEA yesterday! So fab :) There's a photo on my Instagram page: http://followgram.me/paravent/
this reminds me of my grandfather's land in michigan. acres of cornfields which we loved to get lost in. in the spring when the fields were plowed we sometimes found indian arrowheads- some thousands of years old. though we live far away my sister and i inherited a little portion of the farm. it's belonged to our family for generations. your picture makes me very nostalgic.
it's such a lovely image and so cool to still have hold of it.
xx
I remember that photo format too with the curved corners - it seemed so modern at the time. Lovely pic with all that nostalgia :)
so beautiful..the place, memories and the connection. And i so want to be there. Thank you for sharing.x
Beautiful image even for a 12 year old.... you could appreciate the beauty of this space. Photos becomes more and more powerful as the years pass.
What a great image and a great story. Such a peaceful looking piece of land. Is it very different now?
Hi Jen, I don't think it has changed much since then.... it's still used as farmland, of course, with my grandfather gone, I am not sure who is leasing the land and what they are growing, but I can't wait to see it again one of these days. :)
ACES pic at IKEA Kylie, thank you!
I totally agree with you on the precious aspect in relation to it being the end of an era. Amazing how things change so much. I mean it's quite natural, but there is a sense of nostalgia, and preciousness about it all. :)
thank you for the gorgeous comments everyone. K :)
